Clarification of Burned Side Atack Flashcards
If using a CAFS stream, a burned side attack is acceptable with:
Structures with restricted/delayed access to the interior
- means access is extremely difficult, every effort has been made to enter from unburned side.
- risk greater to spend extra time gaining entry than potential heat/steam produced by exterior knockdown.
If burned-side attack is deemed appropriate: (4)
Initiated by IC after confirmation no other companies are inside.
Decision transmitted via portable radio to all companies.
CAFS only for brief period of time to darken room/cool fire (cooling 5-10 seconds after knockdown).
Vent and hoselines are to be immediately deployed to the unburned side to facilitate rapid primary.
Hose stream coordination.
More than one line laid: (5)
IC transmits strategy.
Before opening a line, company officers must transmit location and direction they are taking.
*first in mobile command must notify responding BC.
Responding BC must acknowledge.
Company officers must notify IC if they have any significant change in the location of their line.
Personnel on nozzle must be cognizant of the effect of their stream placement will have on others.
Whether with water, foam or CAFS, a burned side attack is acceptable with: (2)
Structure fire with NO life safety concerns.
Extremely dangerous structures.
