Staff safety and safety of Public is paramount. Collection of evidence is secondary concern.
What are the 2 types of entry into a Clan Lab?
Unplanned entry AND planned entry.
A planned entry is preferred method of dealing with a Clan Lab. However, in the event of an unplanned entry the aim is to rapidly convert the unplanned entry into a planned response with appropriate structure and procedures.
What to do if you find children in the Clan Lab?
Children found are considered to be in imminent danger. Immediate actions must be taken to remove children or YP from the Clan Lab environment to ensure their safety and well-being.
What to do in an unplanned entry?
- Remove person of interest from the address
- Isolate the address, maintain safe perimeter
- Preserve Crime Scene
- Notify duty inspector or duty NCO, contact NCLRT & where appropriate the local fire service or ambulance
- Seek advice from NCLRT or Fire Service about decontamination procedure
- Occupants of address & Staff who entered the address to remain separate until decontamination issues addressed
- Seek medical advice if you experience any adverse effects
What do you do on a planned entry?
- Whether it’s an active or inactive laboratory
- The number and nature of offenders or others present in the laboratory
- The Lab location
- Proximity to persons or property
- Type / Size of Lab
- Firearms / Weapons / Booby Traps
