What are 3 main locations of the early colonies? List 2 examples of lifestyles from each.
New England, middle, and southern colonies. New England- they didn’t farm, lots of shipbuilding, and fishing middle- grew lots of cash crops most people helped on farms southern- plantations, and lots of slaves
Why did the English government pay little attention to the colonies in the early days of their existence?

What was the French and Indian war?
The English and French both tried to claim the same land, and the French wanted to drive English into the Appalachians
What were the Townsend and coercive acts? List 4 things they allowed .
Town meetings illegal, closed the Boston port, eliminated colonial claim to land, and made them provide housing for soldiers. They were to get back at the colonies for the Boston tea party.
What happened in September 1774? Why was this important?
Delegates got together to discuss how to get out of the coercive acts, and sent a letter to the king
Describe the purpose of the Declaration of Independence
It was for the colonists to try and explain why we should be free
Who were Thomas Hobbes and John Locke?
Thomas Hobbes- believed that an agreement called a social contract, existed between the government and people. John Locke- first to sign the Declaration of Independence
