  • Men are strong and violent and often associated with the drug trade
  • Men are depicted as the more powerful gender
  • They are able to keep this dominance through weapons and gangs.

Women =

A
  • Having a women can be seen as a sign of weakness, as seen when Bene is criticised for his girlfriend
  • Women are seen as sexual predators, eg. Rocket and the reporter; and Dona Zelia and Big Boy
  • None of the drug dealers are female and therefore powerless
  • Men seek sexual gratification through rape which allows a strong hold over women. It is a derogatory representation of what is a female
  • Women are underrepresented and discriminated against, frequently objectified and believing men are able to take women as they are inferior to men
  • This is reinforced by how men are uninvolved in the gang culture

  • A clear imbalance between the genders
  • The effect that gender plays in life
  • ## The behaviour that we see reinforces violent steroetypes and how men are able to use violence to remain powerful
