Circulatory System and Pathway of Blood through the heart Flashcards
Arteries carry blood _____ from the heart
away
Veins carry blood __ the heart
to
How does deoxygenated blood travel from the toe to the heart
Starts in the inferior vena cava,
then blood enters the right atrium,
blood is then contracted and pushed the blood to the Tricuspid Valve, and into the Right Ventricle
then blood is pumped through the Pulmonary Valve to the Pulmonary Artery which is taken to the Lungs
and now the blood is OXYGENATED!
How does oxygenated blood travel through the body?
It starts in the LUNGS,
then travels through a Pulmonary Vein to the Left Atrium
the left atrium contracts and the blood travels through the Mitral Valve (aka bicuspid valve) and then into the Left Ventricle
the left ventricle contracts and pumps the blood through the Artic Valve and out a major artery called the Aorta
