circulatory system Flashcards
what is epicardium composed of?
- mesotheium ( simple squamus)
- loose areolar CT
what is endocardium made of?
- endothelial cells inner walls
- subendothelial cells w/ lots of elastic fibers (red)
where is the impulse-conductive system found?
in deepest layer of endocardium
what are the cardiac muscle cells embedded in?
in endomysium
are sattelite cells present in cardiac muscles?
NO, so no regeneration of injured myocytes
what are the three types of cells of the impulse-conducting system?
- p-cell ( 5-8 um) pacemaker
- transitional cells
- purkinje cell (subendocardial ventricular conducting cell)
they are lighter stained than working cardiac myocytes
what does the conductig cell contain making them more pale?
glycogen accumulations
what are the valves made of?
- dublications of endocardium
1. outermost: fibrosa
2. inner: spongiosa
what does mesothelium produce?
serous liquid
difference b/w spongiosa and fibrosa?
spongoisa: CT is loose collagenous w/ elastic fibers
fibrosa: CT densely collagenous
