Circulatory System Flashcards
What do the arteries?
Arteries carry blood from your heart to your veins then capillaries and the to cells.
What is the veins job?
Veins carry blood back to the heart. It is pushed by the contraction of muscles.
What I’d the capillaries do?
The capillaries walls are only one cell thick allowing material to pass thought by osmosis.
What is in the blood?
Red blood cells
White blood cells
Platelets
Plasma
What does the red blood cells do?
Red blood cells are made in the bone marrow of long bones e.g femur and ribs. They contain haemoglobin which grabs onto oxygen cells and carries iron.
What do white blood cells contain?
They are apart of the immune system.
What are in platelets?
They are broken down cells which help blood to clot and stay at the right consistency.
What is in plasma?
It is 90% water and 10% dissolved nutrients and waste.
How does the heart work?
It starts at the vena cava into the right atrium then into the right ventricle then out the pulmonary artery to the lungs the back into the heart through the pulmonary vein in to the left atrium the left ventricle and out the aorta to the body!
What is apart of the circulatory system?
Arteries Veins Capillaries Red blood cells White blood cells Platelets Plasma,
