Circuits Flashcards
How many ways is there for electricity to flow
Only one path for the electricity to flow through
What has to happen to the circuit to make sure it can work
There has to be a complete circuit
What does a parallel circuit have
A parallel circuit can have 2 or more branches so electricity has more that one Plath to flow down
What are series circuits
A complete circle is needed for current to flow. If one or more components blow no current can flow
The same current flows through all components like Christmas lights
What are parallel circuits
Parallel circuit splits at junctions, the current slits and passes the ought each junction and it mist be the same as the current passing out
In a Parallel circuit current can still flow even if one of the components had blown. Meaning not all will go out if one fails
What does an ammeter do?
Electric current is measured in units called amperes (A). An ammeter is used for measuring the electric current
Does it matter where you put the ammeter in the circuit?
No, it doesn’t matter where you put the ammeter as r gives the same result
What is voltage measured in
Measured in volts (V) and it is sometimes called potential difference
What is potential difference
Basically another word for voltage
Where is the voltage measured
Voltage is measured across a component using a voltmeter which is connected in parallel to the component
What is the voltage like
It is like an electrical push- without is, electrons will not move
What is voltage he
Voltage is how much energy is given by the power source to the moving charges. It is also how much energy the charge carries to each of the components
How do you or the volt meter in a circuit
Like a hug around the bulb, or component you want measured
What happens to the voltage when one component in a parallel circuit is removed
Goes up sometimes but mostly stays the same
What will happen to the voltage when a component in a. Series circuit is removed?
It will increase
