Circuit symbols Flashcards
Battery
Provides the power for the circuit in the form of a voltage. The circuit won’t work without it.
Switch
Allows the circuit to be switched on or off by blocking the current.
Resistor
Controls the size of the current flowing through the circuit.
Variable resistor
Allows the user to vary the current flowing through a circuit.
LDR
Varies the circuit current depending on how much light is shining on it.
Thermistor
Varies the current depending on how hot or cold it is.
LED
Light emitting diodes produce light but uses a small amount of power.
Motor
This produces a rotary motion when you pass a current through it.
What is the purpose of a transistor
Acts as a switch
What is the top part of a transistor?
The collector
What is the middle part of a transistor?
The base
What is the bottom part of a transistor?
The emitter
