Circuit Area Flashcards
Are left or right hand circuits preferred for RWY04 and RWY27?
Right hand circuits
What are the ESL CIRA dimensions?
- 5NM radius centered on ESL ARP
- SFC to 3000 ft
What is the normal circuit altitude for ESL CIRA?
1000 ft
What are the WSL CIRA dimensions?
- 5NM from WSL ARP, remaining north of the latrobe river and 12 TAC ESL
- SFC to 2,500 ft
What is the normal altitude for WSL circuit operations?
1,100 ft
What frequency will A/C arriving, departing or conducting circuits at WSL be transferred to on the ground?
WSL ACD 133.6 MHz
What is defined as circuit saturation at ESL for day and night?
ESL day = 6 aircraft
ESL night = 5 aircraft
What is defined as circuit saturation at WSL for day and night?
WSL day = 5 aircraft
WSL night = 5 aircraft
Do A/C conducting straight-in approaches have priority over CIRA traffic and if so from what point?
4 NM from threshold
- Circuit aircraft should expect to go around behind straight in approach traffic while maintaining required distances.
How can additional aircraft recover to a saturated circuit?
Provided they:
1) recover via initial and pitch to land
2) conduct a missed approach/departure
3) recover via a straight in approach to land
What is the dividing line between the ESL and WSL CIRAs?
Line north south through the sale racecourse marks the boundary between ESL and WSL circuit patterns.
What are the tailwind and crosswind limitations for the PC21?
- Crosswind of 24 kts or more
- Tailwind of 10 kts or more
Can pilots turn crosswind inside preceding aircraft ?
Yes provided that sufficient room exists to maintain an orderly flow of traffic.
When should A/C turn crosswind?
As soon as practicable in order to stay in visual range with other A/C.
What distance should A/C not arbitrarily extend their crosswind?
2NM from upwind unless advised by ATC.
