Using the circle of fifths for notes
Determine a triad by:
Taking the root note
Taking the 3rd major interval
Moving one to the right on the circle
Determine a 4 note chord by: Taking the root note Moving two whole times up Move one right on the circle of fifths Take the note under the octave
Using the circle of fifths as chords
You can identify the two primary chords of any key.
The root chord - the root note of the key.
The dominant chord/5th chord- The chord taken from the note one space clockwise on the circle
Using the circle of fifths as keys
The keys next to each other on the circle are similar.
To tell which sharps are in a sharp key start at f and sharp every note, stop with a note between the last sharp and the key you’re in.
To tell which flats are in a key start at f and add all the flats from f to the key you’re in plus the note infront of your key
