Triads are chords consisting of 3 notes.

To make a triad:
Take the root note
Take the 3rd major interval
Take the perfect 5th interval

Triad qualities

# = Sharp
b = Flat
A

Example Chord - D

Augmented- 1, 3, 5# = D, F#, A#

Major - 1, 3, 5 = D, F#, A

Minor - 1, 3b, 5 = D, F, A

Diminished - 1, 3b, 5b = D, F, Ab

Triad inversion positions

A

Triads have to have the root note, the major 3rd, and the perfect 5th in them however, it can be in any order.
These are called inversions.

Root position - Root, 3, 5 OR root, 5, 3

1st inversion- 3, 5, root OR 3, root, 5

2nd inversion- 5, root, 3 OR 5, 3, root
