Cigar Flashcards
What makes a proper lighter for cigars?
There are two critical features you should look for, the type of fuel it uses, the size of the lighter. It must be a clean burning fuel such as butane, and the lighter must provide a large enough flame to light the whole cigar.
What are the different tools used to cut the cap off the cigar?
Cutters, Scissors, Wedge Cutter, Punch, Poker
What does Ring Gauge mean?
Ring Gauge means the designation of a cigar’s diameter broken into 64ths of an inch. A cigar with a 42 ring gauge, for example, is 42/64 of an inch in diameter. There is no correlation between the size of a cigar and its strength.
Why do some cigars require further aging?
All handmade cigars require a few months of aging to allow the excess moisture introduced during the process of their bunching and rolling to be wicked away. You’ll find that many blends mature and marry when allowed time to age and typically the heavier the blend, the more aging they need to improve them.
How do you properly store cigars?
The best storage spot for cigars is typically a humidor, although when necessary you can get away with keeping them in a sealed plastic bag with a small, damp paper towel for a day or so.
