What is the tabernacle used for?
Contains the consecrated host
Allows people to visit the blessed sacrament
The host can be brought to the sick as a reminder of gods presence
What is the lectern used for?
A stand for the church bible often made from brass and in the shape of an eagle. Used for reading the liturgy of the word
What is the pulpit used for?
A raised box from which the minister gives the sermon or talks to the congregation
What is the Reredos used for?
A painted/sculptured screen behind the altar which has pictures of Jesus and Mary to help focus on the altar
What does the sanctuary mean?
A raised platform where the most important parts of a service take place
What is the FONT used for?
Used to hold water for baptism
What is the nave used for?
The main part of the church where the congregation sits
What is the Aisle used for?
Processions
What is the East window used for?
Often stained glass, right behind the altar and draws attention to it
