CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE Flashcards
A condition in which the kidneys are
damaged and cannot filter blood as well
as they should. Because of this, excess
fluid and waste from blood remain in
the body and may cause other health
problems, such as heart disease and
stroke.
Chronic Kidney Disease
bacterial infection causing inflammation of
the kidneys and is one of the most common diseases of the kidney.
_______ occurs as a complication of an ascending urinary tract infection
(UTI) which spreads from the bladder to the kidneys and their collecting
systems. It can cause hypertensive urgency due to several factors. The infection
can lead to inflammation and damage to the kidneys, which can disrupt their
normal function in regulating blood pressure.
Acute Pyelonephritis
Types of Hypertensive Crisis

where the blood pressure is elevated
(diastolic > 120 mmHg) with the absence

Hypertensive Urgency
A condition in which there is elevation of
both systolic and diastolic blood
pressure with the presence of acute
target organ disease
