What is chronic ischaemic heart disease and why is it mostly asymptomatic?

A

Gradual enlargement of a stable atherosclerotic plaque in coronary arteries leading to gradual luminal stenosis. Asymptomatic because myocardium can undergo compensatory changes like LVH (eventual decompensation, chronic heart failure).
