What is acute limb ischaemia?
A
Surgical emergency requiring revascularisation within 4-6hrs to save limb.

What are the causes of acute limb ischaemia?
A
- Thrombosis in situ
- Emboli (commonly from the heart - AF)
- Graft/angioplasty occlusion
- Trauma

A
Pale Pulseless Painful Paralysed Paraesthesia Perishingly cold

What is the management for acute limb ischaemia?
A
- If in doubt, urgent angiography.
- Emergency - urgent open surgery or angioplasty, surgical embolectomy or local thrombolysis.
- Anticoagulate with heparin after, beware of reperfusion injury.
