A festival is a day or period of celebration for religious reasons
Why is Christmas celebrated?
To celebrate the incarceration of Jesus
Nativity- celebrating the christs birth
Midnight mass- reflects the holiness of Jesus birth
Cards and gifts- recalls the wise men’s gifts to Jesus
Why is Easter celebrated?
Celebrates Jesus rising form the dead
Good Friday- special services to remember the crucifixion
Sunday- gifts are given to celebrate the resurrection
Saturday night- candles are light to celebrate Jesus rising

What is agape?
Selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love
Eg. Food banks, street pastors, evangelism(spread the word of Christianity)

Restoring harmony to relationships that have broken down
What is baptism and what happens in a baptism?
A ritual to become a member of the church
They use water to symbolise washing away sin and being born into a new life
What is infant baptism and what happens in an infant baptism?
A ritual for babies or young people
They welcome the child into the church, child becomes part of the Christian community, god parents promise to bring the child up in faith
And for catholics original sin is forgiven

A ritual for adults
The old person makes the decision themselves, person becomes part of the Christian community
Often they get funny immersed into the water

A ritual to celebrate and remember Jesus crucifixion and resurrection

Why do people get baptised?
People get baptised to follow in god footsteps as he got baptised by John the Baptist
