What’s the life of Siddhartha Gautama?
Buddhas name- Siddhartha Gautama
The buddhas mother had a dream of white elephant telling her she would give birth
The Buddha could walk(when he walked lotus flowers bloomed beneath his feet) and talk as soon as he was born
There was a prophecy made that shaped his life- he would become a great king or a holy man
He was raised in luxury and wasn’t allowed to leave the palace

What was Siddharthas Ascetic life
He spent 6 years living a simple and strict life
Extremely self discipline
He slept on thrones
He ate so little he almost staved to death
Why did Siddhartha try an ascetic life?
He did this to try find answers to life, suffering and meaning of existence
Why did Siddhartha turn away form Ascitic life?
He realised he going nowhere and just killing himself
He realised he needed a middle way (between luxury and discipline)
What is karma/kamma?
“Actions have consequences”
It’s not the action but the motivation behind the action
Explains how a person action can lead to happiness or suffering
What is skillful actions?
Motivated by generosity, compassion and understanding
Good actions
What is unskill actions?
Motivation by craving hatred and ignorance(3 poisons )
Bad actions
What is dependent arising?
Everything arises in dependence with everything else
What is the wheel of life?
It illustrates the concept of dependent arising
Represents different states of human experience

What is reincarnation?
The belief that when you die you are reborn into another being- determined by karma

What is Anicca?
Impermanence
Everything changes
Nothing lasts forever

There’s no permanent soul
No real self
No permanent being that is you
What is Dukkha?
Suffering
Dissatisfaction

What are the 7 states of Dukkha?
Physical- birth, old age, sickness, death
Mental- separation from some1 you love, contact with some1 you dislike, not being able to achieve desires

Form- body
