The Christian service that remembers the Last Supper. Bread and wine are blessed and consumed.
Evangelism
Preaching the Christian faith. Spreading the ‘good news’ of Jesus’ teaching and salvation.
Food Banks
Charity groups collecting donated food to distribute to the poor in Britain
Holy Communion
Another name for the Eucharist (bread and wine ritual)
Infant Baptism
Ceremony welcoming a child into the Christian faith
Iona
An island in Scotland with a 4th century monastery used by Christians today as a religious retreat as it is a place of peace and tranquillity.
Liturgical Worship
A church service with a set structure of worship. May include The Lord’s Prayer, traditional hymns and Bible readings.
Non-liturgical worship
A service with a relaxed structure of worship. May include informal discussion/singing/dancing/speaking in tongues/quiet contemplation

The prayer Jesus taught his disciples to show them how to pray
Lourdes
A town in France where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared. Now a place of pilgrimage. People travel there for it’s healing waters.
Mass
Another name for the Eucharist
Messiah
The ‘anointed one’ who is seen as the saviour by Christians
Protestant Church
Branch of Christianity that broke away from the Roman Catholic church.
Roman Catholic
The largest Christian group. The pope is its leader.
Rosary Beads
A set of beads used to count prayers, especially in the Roman Catholic church
Sacrament
A rite of passage in the Catholic faith that teaches, strengthens and shows faith. E.g. Baptism/Eucharist
Street Pastors
A Christian organisation of people working in city centres at night helping vulnerable people or those who are involved in antisocial behaviour
Tearfund
A Christian charity working the relieve poverty in developing countries
Transubstantiation
The bread and wine becoming the actual body and blood of Christ (In the Catholic faith)
