liturgical -uses set patterns for services.
non-liturgical- is more spontaneous and has little pre-organised structure.
liturgical- the congregation responds to the person leading the service by reading set words from a book
non liturgical- anyone in the congregation might be invited to pray, choose a hymn

- helps a christian to consider how they need to change so that they don’t continue to do the wrong things

praying on behalf of others and to make sure people’s needs are met
how does a prayer of thanksgiving help a christian
help christians remains grateful for god’s provision in their lives

fasting helps shift their focus from them and on to others as they spend less time worrying about food and more time in increased prayer and caring for the poor

why is Christmas important to christians
- celebration of Jesus’ incarnation
- his point of birth gives humanity hope for a new beginning, possibility of a restored relationship with god and eternal life after death
what does easter recall
how through his death and resurrection Jesus Brough about human salvation and gave christians hope for eternal life after death
what does easter remind christians
-they are reminded of the grace and mercy of God towards them and the need to react in the same way with their relationships with others
what is lent
it is 40 day fasting period before easter in which they must fast for food or something enjoy. it reflects back to the story when Jesus was in the dessert and ibis tried to tempt Jesus into eating food
what is palm sunday
Sunday before easter
what does Palm Sunday recall
Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey . when he entered crows were waving palm branches symbolising victory
why is Palm Sunday important
-time to reflect on their own faithfulness to Jesus as some in crowds were hypocrites. and later calling for his death
what Maundy Thursday remembers
remembers Jesus’ last supper with his disciples
-recalls the commandment to love one another
how is Maundy Thursday marked by christians today
-includes washing of peoples feet by the minister just as Jesus did to his disciples
why is Maundy Thursday important
- it is a reminder that Jesus came to serve and they should follow in. his examples.
- reminded to be humble and willing to serve others
- great thankfulness towards god because of salvation
what does good Friday remember
Jesus’ crucifixion is remembered. time for serious reflection
how is good Friday marked by christians today
Roman Catholics worshippers move around the church stopping at the 14 stations of the cross and taking time to pray for each one
