-Jesus came to earth to bring salvation
-Jesus died on the cross his death paid the price for human sins and gave people the chance of salvation
-Christians often call this atonement (reconciliation)

-Without salvation a person sins will prevent them from entering heaven
-Salvation from sin was the whole purpose of jesus coming to earth and founding christianity

A

-They use it to describe how the death and resurrection of jesus pardoned sin especially the original sin and allowed god to be reconciled with his creation.
-Catholic church teaches that jesus death was an act of self sacrifice which made satisfaction for human sins making salvation possible for all through taking the sacraments of church
-Evangelical protestants believe that god’s justice required a price to be paid for human sin and that rather than punish humans.God took the punishment in himself though the death of christ acted who acted as a subsitute for the whole humanity (penal substituion theory).Salvation comes through faith through the atoning death of christ.
-Liberal protestants believe that jesus brought about atonement through his moral example and love for humanity which inspires christians to live a good life and be reconciled with god

SOWAA: ‘‘into thy hand i commit my spirit’’- jesus died for sins of humanity which fulfilled his purpose of his birth.Through this salvation was attained

what are 3 different beliefs about eschatology?

A

-Eschatology refers to relgious beliefs about death judgement and life after death
-Evangelical believe in resurrection of body after death the body stays in the grave until the last day when jesus will return to earth to declare the end of the world.The dead will be raised and join the living for the final judgement which will separate good from bad and send the god to heaven and the bad to hell.
-LIberals believe in the immortality of the soul.They believe that all souls will be given a second chance to make it to heaven and that hell is not real place but a separation from god
-Catholic believes after death the perfectly purified will go to heaven and the evil will go to hell and those with unforgiven sins go to purgatory where they will be purified from their sins.Purgatory will join those in heaven.No protestants believe in purgatory because it is not mentioned in the bible

A

-Some people believe that a loving god would not have designed a world with natural evils in it.There would be no floods,earthquakes.As god must be able to do things better than humans they believe natural evil shows god has not created the world.
-Some people cannot believe a god who allows human to cause so much evil and suffering when he can stop if he wants.God could have stopped the 2 world war and the holocaust they think god doesn’t exist

-The book of job explains how god allowed satan to punish sinless job to prove to satan that job loved god.Job protested to god and then when he came face to face to god he realised that god is so great and that humans have no right to challenge him.God has a reason for suffering but is beyond human understanding
-The book of psalms shows that suffering is part of life and so is joy and the two go side by side they also said that the psalms claim that suffering can bring believers to a deeper understanding of god

-Free will response is the idea that god created humans in his own image so they have their own choices to do good or evil.This means that god cannot interfere if humans choose evil which is the faults or humans not god
-Vale of soul making evil and suffering involved in this life is not a problem because this life is a preparation for eternal paradise.If people are to improve their souls they need to face evil and suffering in order to become good,kind and .loving.God will show his omnibenevolence and omnipotence by rewarding good in heaven

-Christian express their belief in the trinity when they repeat the nicene creed in every service of the holy communion (eucharist or mass)
-Many christians also do this by crossing themselves when they enter the church or when the name of the trinity is mentioned
-Priests/pastors/ministers begin their sermons with the words in the name of the father son and holy spirit and bless the congregation in the name of the trinity at the end of services
-Baptism and marriages are performed in the name of the trinity
