Q

Explain two wavs in which belief in the resurrection of Jesus influences Christians today
[4 marks]

A

-One way belief in which the resurrection of Jesus influences Christians because it shows them that there is an afterlife after death which we too will go to. This influences Christians too live a good and moral life so that they too can be rewarded in the afterlife. Furthermore, it helps to overcome their fear of death as they know there is an afterlife which is comforting.

-Another way Christians are influenced is that life has triumphed over death and good over evil. It is a sign that God is all powerful and that God can achieve or do anything. This gives them comfort and guides them when they are going through something difficult as they know God’s love and power will overcome anything evil.

Q

Explain two wavs in Jesus’ Crucifixion influences Christians today
[4 marks]

A

-One belief in Jesus’ Crucifixion that influences Christians is that they can accept that suffering is a part of life as Jesus suffered physically and emotional when he was being crucified, so it provides them with comfort when they are going through a hard time and reminds them to keep strong as God knows what it is like to suffer too.

-Another belief is that it gives them confidence that their sins will be forgiven if they sincerely repent and ask for forgiveness. This is because Jesus died for all our sins to be forgiven so Christians want to stay sinless.

Q

Explain two wavs in which belief in the Trinity influences Christians today
[4 marks]

A

-One way in which belief in the trinity influences Christians is that it encourages them to treat all people equally and show the same love and respect to everyone e.g giving to charity. This is because as the father, God is benevolent so Christians should aspire to be like him.

-Another way is that as the son, God was incarnate so he knows what it is like to feel pain and misery so this helps Christians when they are going through a hard time to understand that suffering is a part of life and even God knows what it is like to suffer, providing them with comfort and confidence that their misery will pass.

-Another belief in the trinity that influences Christians is that God is present and dynamic in the world through the holy spirit. This provides them with confidence and comfort that God is always with them and that they are never alone.

Q

Explain two Christian teachings about the means of salvation
[5 marks]

A

-Salvation is a gift from god that cannot be earned through good works. According to this view, humans are incapable of saving themselves and must rely on gods grace to be saved.”It is by grace you have been saved…it is the gift from god.”This demonstrates that god can forgive our sins due to Jesus being crucified for us.

-Faith in jesus christ is necessary for salvation.Humans must put their trust in jesus and accept him as their lord in order to be saved. This is supported by “ whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”This shows how Christians must follow jesus’ teachings in order to be forgiven from their sins.

Q

Explain to Christian beliefs about the causes of sin
[5 marks]

A

-One belief is that sin is caused by the influence of satan and other evil forces. According to this view, satan tempts humans to sin and seeks to lead them away from god. This is supported by “the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.(Peter 1)” This demonstrates how evil is always around to try and tempt Christians to sin against God.

-Another belief is that sin originated from Adam and Eve, who disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, when eating fruit off the tree. This is when ‘original sin’ was created and Christians believe this is why humans have the built in urge to sin.
