What is Dressler’s syndrome? When can it occur?
Postpericardiotomy syndrome characterised by a febrile illness with pleural and pericardial inflammation. Often include pericardial effusions

What are thymomas? Who gets them? What condition are they associated with?
Tumours of the thymus, account for 25% of tumours of the mediastinum
Their peak incidence is in the 4th and 5th decade of life

What is a Putti-Platt procedure?
A procedure performed on the shoulder joint to increase anterior stability at the cost of external rotation. Indicated for repeated dislocations
What does plethoric mean?
Ruddy complexion, congested or swollen with blood
What is Lambert-Eaton syndrome? What is it associated with?
A rare presynaptic disorder of the neuromuscular junction in which ACh release in impaired. Often presents similar to myasthenia gravis
Often associated with small cell carcinoma of the lung
What are two acute interventions in an acute SVC obstruction?
High dose steroids
Anti-coagulation
What is Bornholme disease?
Aka pleurodynia
A rare complication of coxsachie B (and other enterovirus) infections characterised by acute chest/abdominal pain with associated fever, nausea, malaise, and headache
