14
Q

Describe resolution as it pertains to presentation of radar

A

Since the data received by the antenna is sent from a transponder there is no problem with the resolution between targets. The alpha-numeric’s often overlap, and are not discernible at times. This can be usually be overcome by changing the direction of the stem on the alpha-numeric’s.

Q

Define slant range

A

Targets are displayed at their slant range. All beacon control slashes are displaced in direct relationship to the ASR-9 main bang. In relationship to the main bang, each beacon control slash is 1/2 mile beyond the primary radar target.

A

ASR-11
AN/TPX-24A
AN/FPN-67

30
Q

What type of display does the ASR-11 use at ft campbell and what does it display

A

OD-152, plan position indicator

Display primary targets at the correct range and azimuth

31
Q

What does the AN/TPX-42 (with the PIDP) display

A

A computer generated data block correlated with the primary radar target on the OD-152

32
Q

What does the AN/FPN-67 use and what does it display

A

Azimuth-elevation indicators to display a primary target I two dimensions.

Top half of the scope gives a side view of the airfield approach and elevation target.

Bottom half gives a top view of the airfield approach and displays an azimuth target

33
Q

What are the alignment and adjustment procedures

A

STARS equipment conducts continuous self-monitoring of alignment accuracy. Therefore controller alignment is not required.

34
Q

What is the required display for radar

A

Display is controllers preference

35
Q

How is the accuracy determined for radar

A

TVA smokestacks are used to verify the accuracy of the system. They are located at 207 degrees at 18.5

36
Q

STARS TCW

A

Standard terminal automated replacement system terminal control workstation

37
Q

Where is the power supply located for the STARS TCW

A

Located under. The eagle 1 and 2 position

38
Q

What happens when you press the COR SWITCH

A

Permits the video display of only correlated radar and beacon/radar merged reports

39
Q

Define correlated radar and uncorrelated reports

A

Result when ASR 9 logic using certain criteria matches primary radar reports on three successive scans.

If such match cannot be achieved…it is considered uncorrelated

40
Q

What happens when you press the uncorrelated switch (UNCOR)

A

Permits the video display of all radar reports

41
Q

What happens when the MAP switch is pressed

A

Video display of correlated radar and uncorrelated radar reports falling within a predetermined range-azimuth sectors

42
Q

How are range azimuth sectors selected

A

Inputting defined mapped areas via external terminal at then SCIP CONTROL PANEL

43
Q

How is the the weather on the TCW DCB labeled

A

1-6 and provides a visual display as to which level of weather has been selected for display on the controller consoles.

44
Q

What will light automatically to show which weather levels are being received

A

AVAIL DCB indicators

45
Q

What is one of the most important ways to ensure high equipment efficiency

A

PM preventive maintenance

46
Q

EXPLAIN THE STARS keyboard

A

Interfaces each position with the indicator and STARS computer

Used to control the display of data at that indicator position
