What is affidavit?
any written document in which the signer swears under oath that the statements in the document are true.
What is warrant, arrests?
a document issued by a judge directing police to immediately arrest a person accused of a crime.
What is the exclusionary rule?
the rule providing that evidence obtained improperly cannot be used against the accused at trial.
What is the exigent circumstance?
an instance where quick emergency action is required.
What is the fifth amendment?
it guards against self-incrimination and double jeopardy.
What is the Fourth amendment?
the protection against unreasonable searches and seizures and protects peoples homes, property and effects.
What is informed consent?
giving the police permission to search.
What is interrogation?
police questioning of a suspect about a particular crime
What is lineup?
a procedure in which police ask suspects to submit to a viewing by witnesses to determine the guilty party, based on characteristics information obtained can be used later in court.
What is reasonable suspicion?
suspicion that is less than probable cause but that a person may be involved in criminal activity.
What is search and seizure?
an officers searching for and taking away evidence of a crime.
What is the Sixth amendment?
guarantees the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury, the right to effective counsel at trial, and other protections.
