What is the classification of inmates Jails?
a treatment plan accessing the inmates needs while incarcerated.
What is the new generation/direct supervision jail?
jails that eliminate many of the traditional features of a jail, such as allowing staff members greater interaction, control.
What is the nothing works philosophy?
Martinson`s belief that correctional treatment programs generally do not rehabilitate offenders or significantly reduce recidivism.
What is parole?
early release from prison, who must comply with certain terms, conditions for a specified period of time.
What is probation?
an alt to incarceration, remains out of jail, into the community, subject to conditions and supervision of the probation authority, if violated can be sent back to prison.
What are prison industries?
use of inmates to produce goods or provide services for a public agency or private corporation.
What is rehabilitation?
attempts to reform an offender so he is not recidivist and does not return to crime/prison.
What are state prisons?
correctional facility that houses convicted felons.
What is a supermax prison?
a penal institution that affords inmates very few if any amenities and a great amount of isolation.
What is a warden?
the chief administrator of a federal pent, or state prison.
