Q

Induction of labor is recommended when there is concern for the health of the mother or baby, for ex:

A
  • Mother is approaching 2 weeks beyond her due date
  • water has broken, but contractions have not begun
  • Infection in the mother’s uterus
  • Baby has stopped growing at the expected pace
  • Not enough amniotic fluid surrounding the baby
  • The placenta peels away, from inner wall of the uterus before delivery
  • The mother has a medical condition, such as high blood pressure or diabetes
