What are the 5 branches of the Chong?
Internal branch: between kidneys through the uterus and emerges at Ren1
Abdominal branch: emerges at ST30 and connects with Kid11. Ascends over kidney channel to Kid21 and disperses throughout chest. (This branch is usually involved in rebellious Qi of Chong)
Head branch: ascends over throat, around the chin and lips, and ends in the eyes.
Spinal branch: from Ren1 ascends inside the lumbar spine to L2.
Descending branch: from ST30 descends over medial aspect of leg, separating at the heel with one branch going to Kid1 and one to Liv3
What are the 3 treasures and their associated organs? Chong is influenced by these because of its pathway between them.
Heart = Shen Stomach/spleen = Qi Kidneys = essence (jing)
Point prescriptions:
Restless leg syndrome
Increasing circulation of Qi in the legs
Warming circulation
Restless leg syndrome: KID11, ST30, ST37, ST39, SP6 (3 yin crossing)
Brings Qi & blood down to the lower legs.
Poor circulation of qi in the legs: KID11,12,13
Warming the legs/circulation (coldness & numbness): SP4, PC6, KID4,11,13
What are the 3 blood pathologies associated with the Chong Mai?
Blood heat, blood stasis, blood deficiency.

Blood stasis in the uterus

What are symptoms of rebellious Qi in the Chong Mai?
- cold feet with heat in the head
- fullness, distension, and pain in lower abdomen or hypo gastric region, umbilical area or epigastrum
- dysmenorrhea
- tightness in the chest, palpitations, SOB
- breast distension
- sighing
- lump in the throat
- headaches
- morning sickness
What are the 2 major patterns for rebellious Qi of the Chong Mai and explain them.
1) . Full pattern = primary
- caused by emotional stress
- SP4, PC6, LI4, LIV3, KID14, KID21
2). Mixed/full/empty pattern = secondary
- deficiency in the lower abdomen (blood and/or kid deficiency)
allowing Chong to escape upwards
- SP4, PC6, LI4, LIV3, KID13, KID21, Ren4
