Q

What is D and L isomerism with carbohydrates

A

The most oxidised c is at the top of the molecule and if the bottom OH is:
- to the left, then its a L isomerism
To the right, then it’s a D isomerism

Q

What is the Cahn Ingle pre log rules (r/s)

A

Ordering groups in order of priority around a chiral carbon. If the order is clockwise its a R isomerism if its left, its an S isomerism.
