- Prevented c.100 million births
- GENDER IMBALANCE (117 men: 100 women) - people wanted males for religious and cultural reasons so girls often aborted/thrown away
- Little Emperor Syndrome in kids
- 4-2-1 Family imbalance - increased pressure on working population
- Led to aging population
