Compare and contrast features of Chinese govt and Australian govt.
- 2 similarities
- Both run mixed economic systems (part capitalist and part command)
- Both have free and fair elections for citizens over 18 but only CCP members (6% of the population) can vote in China whereas every citizen over 18 can vote if they are registered
Compare and contrast features of Chinese govt and Australian govt.
- 2 differences
- China is a one-party state ruled by the Chinese Communist Party whereas Australia has a multi-party political system with Liberals and Labor Parties being the two major ones and many minor ones such as Greens, Nationals etc.
- Australia has a horizontal separation of powers whereas China has no separation of powers all branches are controlled from the top down

Purpose - Interpret the law
Administers the law created by parliament
Rule of law - All equal before the law
Highest Court - High Court - Appeals from Supreme Court, Constitutional matters, disputes between the states and/or federal government
China’s Judiciary
- Administers the law created by NPC
- Rule by law - some are more equal than others e.g. CCP
- Highest court - Supreme People’s Court - hears appeals from lower courts, approves death penalty, supervises trials in other courts and discovers mistakes in other courts and arranges re-trials

- Appeals - if unhappy with the court’s decision you can appeal but only if you feel it was unfair or certain principles of justice were not applied
