What is Child Sexual Exploitation?
Child Sexual Abuse
Individual or group takes advantage and coerce, manipulate or deceive a child or young person under the age of 18 into sexual activity
A) in exchange for something the victim needs or wants
B) for the financial advantage or increased status of the perp or facilitator
Can be through use of technology as well
What is a CAWN?
Child Abduction Warning Notice
2 types:
If child is under 16yrs - S.2 Child Abduction Act 1984
If child is under 18yrs and in Local Authority care - S.49 Children Act 1989
Issued to suspects who are believed to place children at risk of offences being committed against them.
What is SERAF?
Sexual Exploitation Risk Assessment Framework.
Risk Assessment forms that help identify children and young people at risk of or abused through sexual exploitation.
Categories:
0 - 5 Category 1 not at risk
6 - 10 Category 2 Mild Risk
11 - 15 Category 3 Moderate Risk
16+ Category 4 Significant Risk
