What is an neglect ?
not carrying about the child, no food, no giving love and attention, dirty cloths, no sending for education or hospital treatment when needed.
Physical Abuse
is defined as deliberately hurting a child an causing physical harm
includes injuries such as:
- bruises
- broken bones
- burns
- cuts
it may involve:
hitting kicking shaking throwing poisoning burning scalding drowning and other methods of causing non-accidental harm to a child
Child Sexual Abuse (CSA)
when a child is forced or persuaded to take part in sexual activities. This may involve physical contact or non-contact activities and can happend online or offline
Emotional Abuse
ongoing emotional maltreatment of a child, which can have a severe and presistent negative effect on the child’s emotional health and development. It’s known as psychological abuse.
Exposing a child to aggression, cruelty or abuse betweent others is also form of emotional abuse.
Domestic Abuse
type of controlling, coercive, threatning behaviour, violence or abuse between people who are or who have been in a relationship, regardless of gender or sexuality. it can also happen between adults who are related to one another.
DA can include :
- coersive control - physical abuse - emotional abuse - sexual abuse and rape - satlking and harrasment - economic and financial abuse - technology-facilitated abuse
Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
is a type of child sexual abuse. It occurs where an individual or group takes advantage of an imbalance of power to coerce, manipulate or deceive a child or young person under the age of 18 in to sexual activity
Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB)
is developmentally inappropriate or socially unexpected sexualised behaviour which doesn’t have an overt element of victimisation or abuse
Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB)
is developmentally inappropriate sexual behaviour displayed by children and young people which is harmful or abusive
Peer-on-Peer Sexual Abuse
is a form of HSB where sexual abuse takes place between children of similar age or stage of development. Child-on-child sexual abuse is a form of HSB that takes place between children of any age or stage of development
Bulling
is a range of behaviours which may be combined and may include:
Verbal Abuse
Physical Abuse
Emotional Abuse
Cyberbulling / Online bulling
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
it is partial or total removal of the external female genitalia for non-medical reason.
Child Trafficking
it is defined as recruting, moving, receing amd harbouring children for the purpose of exploitation. It is a form of modern slavery
children are trafficked for:
- child sexual exploitation - criminal activity / strret crime / moving drugs/ forced labour / illegal adoptions / cleaning etc / county lines
County lines
form of criminal exploitation where urban gangs persude, coerce or force children and young people to store drugs and money/ or transport them to suburban areas, market towns and coastal towns
