Child Health And Individual Development Flashcards

Q

Rates of development are unique

A

Despite childhood development being orderly and predictable for the pattern and sequence, the rate and time at which each child grows and develops is different and unique to that particular child.
For example, the rate and timing at which children can walk is different for all children, some walk at 10 months and others at 18 months

Q

Development requires change

A

By definition, development is linked to change and therefore if an individual is not changing then they are not developing. Many of the changes are determined by genetics at conception. An individual’s ability to achieve maximum change is influenced by the environment
