Abreaction
a psychoanalytical term for reliving an experience in order to purge it of its emotional excesses; a type of catharsis. The expression and emotional discharge of unconscious material (as a repressed idea or emotion) by verbalization, especially in the presence of a therapist.
Why is play therapy effective for kids?
they have not yet developed the abstract reasoning abilities and verbal skills needed to adequately articulate their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.

the ability to withstand and recover from stressors. It is comprised of individual characteristics, early life experiences, and protective factors such as their family, relationships, social and physical environment
Three groups of factors that promote resilience
Individual factors (self-efficacy, self-esteem) Family characteristics (caring, connected) Community characteristics (schools, peers)
