Chi Square test Flashcards

Q

Two way table test (10 steps)

A
  1. Write out hypothesis: h0: Rows are unaffected by the columns
  2. rewrite table with room for 3 numbers in each cell
  3. Get totals for each row, column and the grand total (sum of row totals or Column totals) (observed counts)
  4. get expected counts for each cell by (row total * column total) / grand total
  5. get chi square value by formula on sheet
  6. get test stat by adding up Chi squares
  7. get df by (Row -1)*(columns -1)
  8. get critical value from sheet
  9. draw it out (looks like F curve)
  10. conclude

Q

Goodness of fit test

A
  1. Hypothesis: h0 the population follows the given model
  2. make table with model| Observed (given) | Expected (given % *column total) | Chi squared
  3. get test stat by adding up chi values
  4. define alpha, crit value and Df = categories -1
  5. conclusion based on X2>X2*
