Chi Square test Flashcards
1
Q
Two way table test (10 steps)
A
- Write out hypothesis: h0: Rows are unaffected by the columns
- rewrite table with room for 3 numbers in each cell
- Get totals for each row, column and the grand total (sum of row totals or Column totals) (observed counts)
- get expected counts for each cell by (row total * column total) / grand total
- get chi square value by formula on sheet
- get test stat by adding up Chi squares
- get df by (Row -1)*(columns -1)
- get critical value from sheet
- draw it out (looks like F curve)
- conclude
1
Q
2 kinds of chi square tests
A
- 2 way test of independence (homogeneity)
- goodness of fit test
2
Q
Goodness of fit test
A
- Hypothesis: h0 the population follows the given model
- make table with model| Observed (given) | Expected (given % *column total) | Chi squared
- get test stat by adding up chi values
- define alpha, crit value and Df = categories -1
- conclusion based on X2>X2*
