Veil like opacity - diffuse opacification of the left hemithorax (lobe collapses forward)
Will the right hemidiaphragm be preserved in right middle lobe collapse?
Yes
What would a right middle and lower lobe collapse show on CXR?
Loss of clarity of right hemidiaphragm and right heart border
How can you tell the difference between lung consolidation and collapse on CXR?
In consolidation the volume will be preserved
What is the ABCDE for looking at heart failure CXRs?
A - alveolar oedema (bats wing) B - Kerley B lines C - cardiomegaly D - dilated upper lobe vessels E - pleural effusion
What should a correctly positions ET tube look like on CXR?
Tip 5cm above carina
Width 2/3rds of tracheal diameter
Cuff should not expand trachea
