- Pressure on chest
- Discomfort rather than pain
- Not tender to touch
Stable Angina Symptoms
- Lasts no longer than 10 minutes
- Is reversible with rest of NG
- Provoked by Exertion, Emotions, Extreme Temperatures, Eating
Cardiac Chest Pain
- Sub-Sternal characteristic and duration
- Provoked by exertion or emotional stress
- Relieved by rest or NG
Possible Cardiac Pain
2 of the following:
1. Sub-Sternal characteristic and duration
2. Provoked by exertion or emotional stress
3. Relieved by rest or NG
Common in elderly and DM
Non-Cardiac
1 or none of the following:
1. Sub-Sternal characteristic and duration
2. Provoked by exertion or emotional stress
3. Relieved by rest or NG
Non-Ischemic cardiac
Types of Chest Pain
Cardiac
- Squeezing pain triggered by emotional stress or exertion
- Relieved by rest or NGs
GI
- Burning pains triggered by food
- Relieved by antacids
Musculoskeletal
- Sharp pains triggered by physical movement
- Relived by heat or rest
