Chest x-ray, echo, stress test (exercise or pharmacologic), coronary angiography
What are 5 signs that warrant emergent care in a patient with chest pain?
Pulses paradoxus >10, widened mediastinum on chest x-ray, pleuritic chest pain, sharp chest pain radiating to the back, subcutaneous crepitus
What is the most common cause of pleuritic chest pain in young adults?
Viral pleurisy
Primary hyperventilation syndrome is characterized by
Dyspnea, chest pain, tingling/numbness of limbs, and/or dizziness
Secondary hyperventilation syndrome can be caused by
Acidosis, pulmonary embolism, pneumothorax, asthma, infarct
What results may be found in a patient with hyperventilation syndrome?
Decrease PaCO2, normal or increased PaO2
