Chemistry General Flashcards
what is dissolving
when something mixes into liquid (for example, sugar dissolves in tea)
what does evaporated mean?
when water becomes gas (when puddles dry up, that is the water becoming gas)
how many % of oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide are there in the air?
70% Nitrogen
20% oxygen
0.04% Carbon dioxide
what does renewable mean?
when things don’t run out
what does carbon dioxide emission mean?
how much carbon dioxide is being let out into the atmosphere
what does soluble mean
it can dissolve in water (mix in with liquid)
what should you do when there is a describe the pattern question
you should describe any patterns you see - is there an increase, is there a decrease?
And then, once you say increase or decrease, you have to say by how much
what should you do for a question that says just describe the graph (for a line graph)
As (look at the title at the bottom of the graph - say that) goes from … to …, the (look at the title at the side of the graph) increases/decreases from … to ….
For example, as the concentration of CO2 goes from 0.5 to 1.5, the rate of photosynthesis increases from 50-75
what is the chemistry name for burning?
combustion
