Chemical Reactions Flashcards
What is a combination reaction and a example
Combination reactions (sometimes known as synthesis reactions) occur when multiple reactants combine to form a single product. carbon + oxygen ⟶ carbon dioxide
What is a composition reaction and an example
Decomposition reactions occur when a single reactant breaks apart to form multiple products.
calcium carbonate ⟶ calcium oxide + carbon dioxide
What happens in a neutralisation reaction
Neutralisation reactions occur between acids and bases, to form water and a salt.
What happens in an acid carbonate reaction
Acid-carbonate reactions occur between acids and carbonates to form salt, water and carbon dioxide.
What gas does an acid metal reaction produce
Hydrogen
What does an acid metal reaction produce
Salt and hydrogen
What gas does an acid carbonate reaction produce
Carbon dioxide
