Chemical Equations Flashcards
Equilibrium constant (Keq)=
Keq=[products]/[reactants]
if Keq>1 then..
there are more products than reactants
if Keq<1 then..
there are more reactants than products
Le Chatelier’s principles say..
Every reversible chemical reaction will reach a state of equilibrium as VF=VB .
Any external interference will cause the system to increase VF or VB in order to restore the equilibrium state again.

Pressure effect on equilibrium
Always supports the side with less moles according to balance. Pressure doesn’t affect reactions with an equal number of moles on both sides of the equation.
Temperature effect on equilibrium
Endothermic reactions- ΔH+ , Absorbs heat from the environment
Reactants + Heat → Products
Exothermic reactions-ΔH- , Emits heat to the environment
Reactants → Products + Heat
