Chemical Agents: General - Benjamin Flashcards
What is a precursor?
It is a compound that participates in a chemical reaction that produces another compound. More specifically it is a compound preceding another in a metabolic pathway.
Describe binary compounds and why they are used.
Binary compounds are based on two simple and otherwise safe precursor chemicals. They’re mixed before deployment during missile or ammunition flight path. When combined, they become active and extremely deadly.
What is persistency and how does it affect battlefield strategy?
The capacity of a CBRN agent, once released, to remain capable of causing significant harm for a prolonged period of time. The greater the persistency the longer a battlefield is affected by that agent.
