8
Q

what are alkali metals

A

very reactive
reactivity increases down the group
all react with water to make the metal hydrogen oxide

17
Q

whats it called when solids devolves

18
Q

whats it called when solids cant dissolve

19
Q

whats a solute

A

the solid that dissolves

20
Q

whats a solvent

A

the liquid it dissolves in

21
Q

whats a solution

A

the mixture of the solute and solvent

22
Q

what does saturated mean

A

when the solid cant desolve any more

23
Q

what happens when salt dissolves in water

A

it mixes with the water to make a salution

24
Q

what is chromatography

A

separating different colors from a substance

25
Q

how to test chromatograthy

A

you put a base line on a piece of paper pencil not pen then on the line ad a dot of ink (a pen)place the paper in the water but above the line and see different colors coming out of the pen dot and up the page

26
Q

whats the difference between sulfur and iron and iron sulfide

A

iron sulfide is a compound as it is chemically joined together and sulfur and iron is a mixture as its not chemically joined together

27
Q

whats the highest on the reactivity series

28
Q

whats at the bottom of the reactivity series

29
Q

if there was 3 test tubes witch all had hydroponic acid in it if you put zink in one silver in one and sodium in one whats the most reactive

A

sodium as its higher on the reactivity series

30
Q

if potassium was put in hydroponic acid what would happen

A

it would bubble vigorously and will even have a lilac

31
Q

how do you balance the equation sodium and oxygen

A

firstly you would put it in to a symbol equation so Na+O2—–>
then you would do NA+O2 witch is NA02
and because there is a 2 near oxygen and you cant change the little numbers so you would put a big 2 in front of the equation to make it equal

32
Q

whats a displacement reaction

A

its an equation like zink+ copper sulfate what you do is look at zink and copper and then look at the reactivity series and look at what is higher on it whatever is higher takes over in this case it is zink so the equitation will be zink sulfide

33
Q

where are metals found

34
Q

what are ores

A

rocks that contain metals

35
Q

where do most metals exists

A

in the earths crust

36
Q

whats the biggest piece of ceramic in your home

37
Q

what are properties of ceramics

A

strong hard and durable and brittle

38
Q

what is a composite

A

2 different materials combined

39
Q

whats the point in composites

A

to create a material that has different abilities for different things

40
Q

what does synthetic mean
