What is the pre-start checklist?
Sufficient fuel
Pedal adjustment and backrest (cushion)
Seat Belts
Doors
Controls - full and free
Fuel Valve - on
Trim - neutral
Brakes - engaged
Circuit breakers - in
Throttle - closed (idle)
Mag 1 & 2 - on
Master - on
Fuel Pump - on/off
Carb Heat - off
Cabin Heat - off
Throttle - hold
Clearance Call - “Clear Prop”
Starter - on
Oil Pressure - confirm rising
Avionics - on
Strobe - on
What is the pre-take off checklist?
Ts & Ps - in the Green (dont forget to wait for CHT in green)
Throttle - set 1600 RPM
Mag Switches - Check 1 & 2 ok
Throttle - idle (1050 RPM)
Voltage Gauge - check 14V
Altimeter - set for aerodrome elevation
Flaps - set for halfway (first stage)
Fuel Pump - on
Fuel sufficient
Ensure radios set to corrrect frequencies (YSD uses Pearce CTS 118.3)
Make radio call to advise traffic taxiing for runway 09 or 27 or other intentions
Taxi
What is the take off checklist?
Gradually Increase to Full Power - 3100 RPM
Keep A/C Straight - apply RIGHT pedal as required
Raise Nose - to horizon (approx 70 KIAS)
ABORT - if full power not achieved
What is the post take off checklist?
Fuel Pump - off
Flaps - Up
Trim A/C for climb
What is the pre-landing checklist conducted downwind?
BUMFHI
B - Brakes off
U - Undercarriage (fixed)
M - Mixture Rich (auto)
F - Fuel Sufficient, Fuel Pump on
H - Hatches and Harnesses
I - Ignition Mag Switches on
What is the after landing checklist?
Fuel Pump - off
Flaps - Up
Trim - neutral
What is the shut down checklist?
A/C into wind
Throttle - idle (1050 RPM)
Park Brakes - On
Ts & Ps - in the Green
Fuel Pump - confirm off
Avionics - off
Strobe - off
Mag Switches - 1 (off/on) > 2 off > 1 off
Throttle - low idle (below 1050 RPM)
CDIs - off
Master - off
What configuration should the Jabiru 170C be placed in at late downwind (just prior base turn) in preparation for landing?
PATF
Throttle - Idle
Raise nose to horizon - 65-70 KIAS
Trim for horizon
Extend full flaps once in white arc
Lower the nose / adjust pitch for airspeed - 65-70 KIAS
Reapply power as needed
