A
- Part of Canada’s constitution
- Sets out Canadians rights and freedoms
- Created in 1992 and incorporated into the Constitution by Pierre Trudeau
- With the charter Canadians can challenge there rights and freedoms in court

A
- Freedom to express your opinions
Freedom to choose your religion - Freedom to organize peaceful meetings and demonstrations
- The freedom to associate with any person or group

Canada’s Democratic Rights
A
- The right to vote for members in the House of Commons and of the provincial legislatures
- The right to vote for a new government at least every five years

- The right to live anywhere within Canada and make a living there
- The right to enter, stay in, or leave Canada

- The right to be free of imprisonment, search and seizure without reason backed by law and evidence
- The right to a fair and quick public trial by an impartial court that assumes you are innocent until proven guilty

- Canada’s official language are English and French
- Both languages have equal rights and can be used in Parliament, legislature and government

- The minority language of the province has the right for their children to be taught in their language
- Provinces must make minority language schools
- Must be enough minority language children to build a school

- Protect the environment and preserve your heritage
- Eliminate discrimination and injustice

- Organizations of workers who act to protect workers rights and interests
- Will often look to the charter to fight for their workers
