they were reformers of the England church and they believed england was too similar to the Roman catholic churcch and they should eliminate the practices thats not in the bible.

they were full of puritans and charles needed them to raise taxes
so why was it so difficult to raise taxes?
parliament passed a Petition of Right that said Charles had to consult with the parliament before raising taxes
what did charles ultimately end up doing to handle this tax process
even tho he agreed at first, he ended up not following the law and ended up getting rid of the parliament (1629)
