Charecteristics Of Electricity Flashcards
What is static electricity?
Static electricity is the buildup of charge on the surface of an object. It is called static because it does not move unless given a path to escape
What is friction?
When two objects are rubbed together electrons are transferred from one to the other this gives one object a positive charge and one object a negative charge
What are the laws of electricity?
1.opposite charges +and- attract eachother
2.like charges + and + or - and - attract neutral objects
3.charged objects + or - attract neutral objects
What is resistance?
Resistance is how difficult it is for charge to move through an object or substance. Good conductors have low resistance insulators have high resistance
What is a series circuit?
Loads are connected one after another the electricity must go through the first one to reach the second one when one load is disconnected the whole circuit will stop working
What is a parallel circuit?
Loads connected separately to the battery the electricity has different paths to each load when one load is disconnected it still will continue to receive electricity
What is a closed circuit?
A closed circuit means electricity is flowing through
What is a open circuit?
A circuit that no electricity is flowing through
