Characteristics of Life Flashcards
a non-living thing that can reproduce?
virus
a living thing that does not grow
ADULT
a living thing that cannot reproduce
sterile being
gene
What is the difference between sensitivity, regulation and homeostasis?
Sensitivity: how a being responds to small changes
Regulation: Regulate to that small change (ex: sueur= when someone body temp is higher than the normal temp, sueur is created to regulate the temp.)
Homeostasis: every organism has its own way of adapting to changes (ex: processing food in our belly, separating the nutriments…)
Name a non-living thing that grows
Crystal
What is regulation?
Every organ/cell wants to regulate the body in response to a change.
What is order like (7 pillars vs textbook)
program
What is meant by seclusion?
Each molecule knows what is its purpose.
What is meant by regeneration?
never. something is newly created, something is born from regeneration (every organism has a time of death)
What is meant by program?
An organism needs a recipe for its reproduction (ex: DNA)
Without ——————————- (fill the blank), Piceras would not work.
——————= kinetics and thermodyamics.
what are the 7 fundamental pillars of life?
